Ruth Monroe's Obituary
Mrs. Ruth Monroe, age 83, died Tuesday afternoon, November 25, 2003. She was a kind and generous person, and deeply devoted to her family. Mrs. Monroe was born March 12, 1920 in Pentwater, MI to Donald and Elizabeth (Glover) Glover and had resided in Muskegon since 1942. She worked for Muskegon Piston Ring for 30 years, was active in the Local 480 Union, where she served on the Bargaining Committee. For 29 years, she owned and operated Monroe Custom Campers with her husband Don, before retiring in 1997. Mrs. Monroe was an active member of Evanston Ave. Baptist Church, serving as the Sunday School Secretary and the Financial Secretary of the Church over the years. The former Ruth Glover married Willis Cartwright, and he preceded her in death on November 5, 1971. She married Donald E. Monroe on February 4, 1961 in Muskegon, and he survives her along with 3 daughters, Jean (Kenneth) Sibley of Norton Shores, Judy Barker of Walkerville, MI, Nancy (Herb) Sibley of Scottville, MI; 5 step-children, Sandy (Wade) Fisher of Norton Shores, Carol (David) Anderson of N. Muskegon, Greg Monroe, Donald L. (Sue) Monroe both for Fruitport, David Monroe of Farmington, CA; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Glover of Muskegon; sister, Phyllis Summy of Cedar Springs; 2 half-brothers, Jim Glover of Ludington, Leroy Glover of Shelby; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Shirley Cleveland. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Robin Sibley; son-in-law, Jim Barker; 2 brothers, Paul and Gene Glover; sister, Marion Stein; and half-brother, Brian Veltkamp. SERVICES will be 1:00 PM Saturday at Evanston Ave. Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Oberg officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION will be from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Friday at
