Ruth Jane Moreen's Obituary
Mrs. Ruth J. Moreen, age 90, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023 in Muskegon. She was born in Mason County on April 15, 1933 to Rufus and Grace (Simmons) Bates. Ruth worked in the meat department for Plumbs grocery store for many years prior to her retirement in 1991. She attended First Wesleyan Church for many years where she enjoyed serving in many capacities. On December 25, 1949, Ruth married Carl M. Moreen and he preceded her in death in 2016. She is survived by five children, Carl (Gayle) Moreen Jr., Gary (Ann) Moreen, Keith (Jan) Moreen, Mark (Deb) Moreen, Jane (Mike) Walsh; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings, Kenneth Bates, Merrill Bates, Hazel Falconer-Kukla, Harold Bates, Lee Bates, and Ray Bates. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 3:00PM Saturday, July 8, 2023 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 with Rev. Jeremy Lenertz officiating.
