Ruth Ann Nelson's Obituary
Ruth Ann Nelson, age 80, of Nunica passed away on July 29, 2023. She was born on May 18, 1943, in Grand Haven to the late Minard Berg and Frances Sheffield (Shears). Ruth’s greatest joys were her family, home, and friends. Ruth married David Nelson on November 12, 1960.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, David; three children: Joyce (Phil) Smith, Vicki (Marty) Brown and David “Bud” (Denise) Nelson, Jr.; seven grandchildren: Adam (Marlene) Smith, Kacie Smith, Curtis (Alicia) Brown, Marianne (Mike) Jacobs, Jeff Brown, Liz (Billy) Morey, and Zack (Amber) Nelson; eight great grandchildren: Brandon, Eli and Adalynn Smith, Lana Brown, Bernadette Morey, Delilah, Katie & Cecilia Nelson and two more on the way; sister, Sally (Fred DeLong) Ingersoll; brother, Bob Sheffield; three step-sisters: Christy Berg, Julie Thompson and Audrey (John) Stillson; step-brother, Mike Berg; brothers in law, Ray (Barb) Nelson and Carl Nelson; sister in law, Linda (Jim) Brigham; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and very special friends. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and step-father, Clarence Sheffield, step-brother, Rick Berg and step-sister, Cindy Crays.
A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023, from 1-3 p.m. and 5–7 p.m. at The Spring Lake Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 213 E. Savidge St., Spring Lake, MI 49456. In lieu of flowers, donations to The National Kidney Foundation of Michigan https://nkfm.org/ are appreciated.
