Ruth Catherine Pasman's Obituary
Ruth Catherine Pasman, age 69, of Fruitport, was called to her heavenly home on Wednesday evening, July 10, 2024. She was born March 20, 1955, to Paul and Alice (Yankee) Collins, in Highland Park, MI. Ruth was baptized and confirmed into the Missouri Synod Lutheran church. She attended Troy High School and graduated in 1973. Ruth met the love of her life at church youth group. Ruth and Joe dated for 2.5 years and married on 5/6/78. Ruth loved traveling with Joe and their journeys took them all around the world, with Sedona, London, and Palm Springs being some of her favorite places to visit.
Ruth, my grandma, was always very creative, a homemaker, loved to decorate interior spaces, and enjoyed having show dogs. Every weekend with my grandma was a girl’s weekend. I loved watching her sew in her sewing room and eventually, she taught me and would watch me sew. We would spend hours at the dining room table beading necklaces and bracelets until our eyes were too tired to string the tiny glass beads onto the fishing line. In the early afternoon, my grandma and I would tend to her rose bushes out in her garden. She would always make sure her garden was immaculate.
My grandma was the most giving person, always making sure those around her knew they were loved and had what they needed. She showed her love by sending handwritten letters and cards to her loved ones. There was always something different about the way Ruth would tell those around her that she cared about them. It felt so genuine and special. She loved her grandchildren so deeply and will be dearly missed.
Ruth leaves behind a loving husband of 46 years, Joe Pasman; her children Megan Bassett, Catherine Pasman, and Bethany (Dylan) Kern; grandchildren, Charlie, Sophia, Jacob, William, Calvin, and Magnolia. She is also survived by her brothers, Paul (Lisa) Collins and Sean Banks; and sisters, Gretchen (Paul) Swanson and Carol Oliver. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John (Stephanie) Collins.
