Ruth Marie Phillips' Obituary
Ruth Marie Phillips, age 86, of Grand Haven passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013, at Heartland Health Care Center in Whitehall. She was born January 5, 1927, in Manistee to Gustave and Olga (Paschke) Becker. She was married to Peter Phillips on February 12, 1946, in Ludington, and he preceded her in death on September 7, 1983.
Ruth had resided in Grand Haven since 1967, moving here from Ludington. She had worked at Howe Wire in Ludington. Ruth was a member of the Sgt. Alvin Jonker V.F.W. Post # 2326 Auxiliary and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie # 925.
She is survived by 5 sons: Guy (Nina) Phillips of Muskegon, Lawrence (Georgia) Phillips of Hesperia, Duane (Sherry) Phillips of Hesperia, Stanley (Edna) Phillips of Spring Lake, and Loyd (Julie) Phillips of Ludington; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Frieda Hanson of Ludington; her brother, Gus (Cathy) Becker, Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her son, Steve Phillips in 1968; 3 sisters: Milly Cushman, Alice Lundy, Ethel Borgh; 2 brothers, Paul and George Becker.
The Funeral Service for Ruth will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 7, 2013, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven with Chaplain Larry Terlouw officiating. Friends may meet the family from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven. Interment will be in Lakeshore Cemetery.
