Ruth L. Poel's Obituary
Ruth Leone (Rosema) Poel was born on April 2, 1931. She entered heaven on May 25, 2021 with joy in her heart, for having spent her final time on this earth surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved and adored each and every one of them.
She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed caring for the home in which she raised her family. She was a 70 year member of Second Christian Reformed Church and spent countless hours volunteering at both her church and at Grand Haven Christian School.
Her husband of 63 years, Gordon Poel, preceded her in death in 2014.
She is survived by her children: Dave (Mariel) Poel; Dianne (Alvin) Tao and Sandi (Terry) DeGroot.
She leaves behind eight precious grandchildren: Rebecca (Scott) Sytsema, Jonathan (Susan) Poel, Matthew (Shannon) Tao, Dan (Jessica) Tao, Betsy Tao, Kristin (Michael) Geertsma, Nathan (Erin) Wybenga and Ashley (Alex) Wybenga-Houseknecht.
Sixteen beautiful great grandchildren survive her: Zoe, Sydney and Owen Sytsema; Molly, Quinn and Claire Poel; Madelyn and Hailey Tao; Olivia and Annalise Tao; Ethan, Asher and Everett Geertsma; Cora and Emery Houseknecht and Maxwell Wybenga.
She is also survived by her brother, H. Cal (Carol) Rosema and by her brother in law, Clyde (Jean) Kinkema. Three sisters and a brother preceded her in death. In addition, she is survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank her amazing caregivers at Christian Haven Home and at Hospice of Heartwood Lodge (North Ottawa Hospice).
FUNERAL SERVICES will be 11 AM Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Second Christian Reformed Church (2021 Sheldon Rd.). VISITATION with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service, from 10-11 AM. Burial will take place in Lake Forest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Grand Haven Christian School, Western Michigan Christian School or to Hospice of North Ottawa.
