Ruth Ann Rescorla's Obituary
Ruth Ann Rescorla, age 88, of Spring Lake passed away Monday, April 9, 2018, at Mercy Hospital. She was born January 14, 1930, in Canton, Ohio, to Harold and Marguerite (Ridge) Wilson, and she married Donald L. “Chops” Rescorla on August 5, 1950, in Grand Haven. He preceded her in death on December 19, 2009.
Ruth worked as a nurse’s aide at North Ottawa Community Hospital for more than 30 years before retiring on February 19, 1990. She was a life member of the Charles A. Conklin American Legion Auxiliary Unit 28 and Salon 499 Ottawa County “8 & 40” life partner. Ruth especially enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, knitting, crocheting, collecting things, playing board games with her grandchildren, casino games on the computer, and experimenting with new recipes.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Deborah (Rick) Behm of Copemish, Michele (Mark) Stetts of Ferrysburg, Rebecca Glockzin of Ferrysburg, and Ted (Carolyn) Rescorla of Spring Lake; her daughter-in-law, Linda Rescorla of Wisconsin; ten grandchildren: Lauren (Dave) Scholtz, Morgan (Mike) Wolfe, Christopher Stetts, Aaron (Megan) Stetts, Emily (Joe) Baldus, Benjamin (Jamie) Glockzin, Zachary Rescorla, Kaitlyn (Josh) Steiner, Jennifer Becher, and Amanda Bottje; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Peter Rescorla, infant son, Michael Rescorla, son-in-law, Tom Glockzin, grandson, Jacob Rescorla, and her brother Donald Wilson.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services – The VanZantwick Chapel with Rev. Dan Anderson officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions to the Charles A. Conklin American Legion Auxiliary Unit 28 are appreciated.
