Ruthann "Rudy" Bengtson's Obituary
Ruthann “Rudy” Bengtson, age 76, of Grand Haven passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at the Meijer Heart Center at Spectrum Butterworth Hospital. She was born September 20, 1946, in Grand Rapids to Willis and Joan (Konyndyk) Schipper.
Rudy will be remembered for her generosity and her big heart. A Michigan native, Rudy spent several decades living in Tucson, Arizona where she ran a successful business with her husband and was a mentor to many young women.
She was an avid collector of art and antiques. Having grown up on a farm, she took great pride and enjoyment in her plants and flowers. She also loved to travel, particularly to London, England where she spent her winters with her English friend Colin Christmas. Rudy was a member of the Elks Lodge 1200 in Grand Haven.
Rudy will be missed greatly by friends and family, near and far.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Skip and Susan Bengtson of Denver, CO; brother, Bob Schipper; sister-in-law, Belinda Schipper; and those she loved like daughters, Natalie, Natalia, and Pam; she was also survived by many beloved members of the Schipper, Konyndyk, and Bengtson families. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Stephen Bengtson; her parents, Willis and Joan; and brother, Bill Schipper.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at the Elks Lodge, 15 S Third St. Grand Haven, MI 49417. Contributions in memory of Rudy may be made to the American Heart Association. The family would also encourage those who loved her to make platelet or blood donations in her honor.
