Ruth C. Rake's Obituary
Mrs. Ruth C. Rake, age 95, passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 4, 2009 in Muskegon. She was born November 11, 1913 to Eugene and Katherine (Hagen) Richards in Muskegon, and was a life resident. Ruth worked at Hackley Hospital for 18 years, previously owned Rake’s Grocery, and was a longtime member of the Muskegon Seventh Day Adventist Church. She married LeRoy “Bim” Rake on January 12, 1929 in Indiana, and he preceded her in death on September 15, 1990. SURVIVORS include 2 sons, E.L. (Mrytle) Rake of TN, William E. (Sandy) Rake of White Cloud; 1 daughter, Ruth Eek of Muskegon; 11 grand, 25 great-grand, several great-great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Henry (Opal) Richards of Muskegon. She was also preceded in death by 1 son, Richard F. Rake who was killed in the Korean War; 1 son-in-law, William Eek; brothers and sisters, Peggy Zack, Ethel Grossenbacher, Gene Richards, Mae Kreft, Lillian Phelps. SERVICES will be 1:00 PM Monday at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 3040 Evanston Ave., with Pastor Ryan Counsell officiating. Burial will be at Mona View Cemetery. VISITATION at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210 will be from 2-5 PM Sunday, and 1 hour prior to the service at church.
