Ruth Ella Reck's Obituary
Mrs. Ruth Ella, Reck, age 89, passed away Thursday afternoon, November 17, 2011. She was born August 20, 1922 in Ionia, MI to Edward and Martha (Jorgensen) Jespersen. Mrs. Reck received her teaching certificate from Oshkosh State Teacher’s College in Wisconsin and worked in the area full time for several years. She started substitute teaching in 1966 for several local schools while raising her family until her retirement in 1989. She enjoyed, quilting, knitting, gardening, and cooking, but most of all, enjoyed spending time with her family. Mrs. Reck was an active charter member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. On June 22, 1946 she married William A. “Bill” Reck, Jr. in Buffalo, NY and he preceded her in death on February 3, 2006. SURVIVORS include 2 daughters, Linda Harrison of Grand Haven, Colleen (Jack) Adkins of Norton Shores; son, Timothy (Jennifer) Reck of Norton Shores; 8 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Ruth Elaine Jespersen of Iowa, Vera Reck of Norton Shores; brother-in-law, David (Melanie) Reck of Spring Lake; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Greg Harrison and brother, Clarence Jespersen. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert J. Conradt and Deacon A.J. Koppel officiating. Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be from 5-8 PM Tuesday at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210 and one hour prior to the service Wednesday morning. MEMORIALS to West Shore Lutheran School, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, or Harbor Hospice will be appreciated.
