Ruth K. Smith's Obituary
Mrs. Ruth K. Smith, age 89, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2010. She was born on July 23, 1921 to John and Rika (Sikkenga) Doppel in Muskegon. Mrs. Smith was a communicant member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was very active in the Lady’s Guild. She was a current member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. On August 23, 1947 she married Raymond Smith in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on February 27, 2004. SURVIVORS include 4 children, Mary Ellen (William) Barry of New Hampshire; Raymond Jr. (Kathie) Smith of Portage, MI; Daniel (Jeanne) Smith of Mason, MI and Elizabeth (William) Rothwell of Royal Oak, MI; 10 grandchildren, William R., Jennifer, Megan, Matthew, Aaron, Erica, Adam, Lindsay, William F., and Michelle; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, George (Theresa) Doppel, sister, Gloria Pasco. FUNERAL SERVICE will take place 11:00 AM Friday, October 1, 2010 at The Walburn Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. 231-759-8565 with Rev. Fr. Michael P. Olson presiding. VISITATION with the family will be this evening from 5 - 7 PM and one hour prior to the service. MEMORIALS to Muskegon Catholic Education would be appreciated. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
