Ruven "Taco" Garza's Obituary
Ruven Garza (Taco), age 79, passed away on September 18, 2025, in
Grand Rapids. He was born on October 23, 1945, to Baleriano and Micaela (Barajas) Garza in St. Paul, MN. Ruven was a hardworking man who spent 21 years working at Sealed Power Ravenna before moving to ADAC, where he worked until his retirement in 2010. In his earlier years, he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, but in later years, you could find him traveling, visiting flea markets, and watching birds. On September 4, 1965, he married Mary J. Portillo, and they shared 60 years together. SURVIVORS include his wife, Mary Garza; children, Benito (Sherry) Garza, Micaela Garza, Mario (Buffy) Garza; grandchildren, Michael Roomsburg, Nicolas Garza, Samantha Garza, Mario Garza, Marcos Garza, Emilio Garza, Wayne Peterson, Carlos Peterson, Janell Garza, Jayd Garza, Jayla Wade, Jacob Vann; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Baleriano Garza Jr., Felix Garza, Enrique (Ila) Garza; and sisters, Carmen (Ronald) Lindsley and Paula (Roger) Fleese. He was preceded in death by his parents, Baleriano Garza and Micaela Barajas. FUNERAL SERVICES will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. VISITATION with the family will be held one hour prior to the service, also at the funeral home.
