Salli Reinking's Obituary
Salli Reinking, age 70, of Spring Lake and San Diego, CA passed away March 28, 2015 while wintering in California. She was born July 24, 1944 in Grand Haven to Carl and Arlysle (Fraser) Reinking.
After graduating college from Northern Michigan University she headed to Florida where she worked as a flight attendant for Antilles Airboats, a small airline flying the Grumman Goose between Miami, the Bahamas and the U.S. Virgin Islands. She taught 3rd grade in St. John’s U.S. Virgin Islands and then went to Abaco, Bahamas where she again taught school for a time. When she returned to the U.S. she settled in Rockford, MI where she worked as a property manager for a large apartment complex. She later purchased several rental properties of her own in Rockford and opened an Antique Mall. In 1998, she closed the mall, sold the Rockford properties and moved back to Grand Haven. She also loved S.C.U.B.A. diving and to travel to the many places that went with it. Over her years of diving she logged over 700 dives in many different countries and waters. Earlier in life she also enjoyed snow skiing and going to the many different mountains.
On December 27, 2008 she married William “Vyn” Meier in Los Angeles and he survives her along with her brother, James Reinking, her sister, Patt (David) McBane. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister-in-law, Nan Reinking.
A memorial visitation will be held 6-8 PM, Thursday, May 14, 2015 at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven. Memorial contributions in memory of Salli may be given to the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation or a breast cancer research foundation of your choice.
