Sally Ann Flejszar's Obituary
Sally Ann Flejszar, age 86, passed away Monday, December 7, 2015 at Seminole Shores. She was born on April 5, 1929 in Warren Township, MI the third of nine children to Reuben and Gertrude (Cross) Collinge. Sally received Bachelor and Master degrees from Western Michigan University. She began teaching at Reeths-Puffer Schools in 1949 and retired from Mona Shores Schools in 1984 after teaching for a total of 35 years. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and participated in various church activities. Sally was also involved with Friends of the Frauenthal and volunteered for the Salvation Army. Sally enjoyed camping, time spent at the cottage on North Lake, summer fun canoeing, winter fun snowmobiling, swimming at the YMCA, travel and playing bridge with friends and family. She was blessed to come from a large family and cherished spending time and making memories with her 6 sisters and 2 brothers. On August 12, 1950, she married Chester Flejszar and they celebrated 53 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on December 18, 2003. SURVIVORS include 3 children, Constance “Connie” (Charles) Schrup of Dubuque, IA, Christopher “Chris” (JoAnn) Flejszar of Twin Lake, and Cynthia “Cindy” (Erik) Sawyer of Whitehall; 7 grandchildren, Elyssa (Ryan) Strickland, Charles (Abby) Schrup, Jason (fiancé, Stephanie Bialik) Flejszar, Amanda Flejszar (Kevin Mullane), Kristin Flejszar (Derrick Hobart), Kallan Sawyer, and Maren Sawyer; great-grandsons, Connor and Flynn Strickland and Jaxon Flejszar; sisters, Donna Martens of Muskegon, Judy (Roger) Filius of Muskegon, Janice (Joseph) Sienkiewicz of North Carolina, Terry (Wayne) Lobdell of Traverse City, Cherri Kobza of Muskegon, Isabel Stahl of Whitehall; sister-in-law, Marge Collinge of Muskegon and a tremendous amount of nieces and nephews. Sally was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Stephen Flejszar in 1974; granddaughter, Stephanie Flejszar in 1979; brothers, James and Jared Collinge; brothers-in-law, Donald Martens, Michael Kobza and Gary Stahl; and sister-in-law, Willa Collinge. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 11:00 AM Saturday, December 12, 2015 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church (2929 McCracken) with Rev. Fr. Norman Droski presiding. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service, from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions in Sally’s name may be given to Harbor Hospice, The Salvation Army or St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. The family would like to thank Harbor Hospice, especially Sally’s nurses, Sue and Alan and aides, Shelly and Tracy, for the professional, loving care given to our Mother. We would also like to thank the caring staff at Seminole Shores Assisted Living Center. Many thanks also to personal home aide, Roxanne and a big thank-you to Mom’s sisters for their many visits, flowers, cards, assistance, love and care.
