Samantha A. Genung's Obituary
Samantha Ann Genung, age 39, passed away in Grand Haven, MI, on Saturday, May 31, 2025, surrounded by her family. Samantha was born on July 21, 1985, to Steve and Jackie (McGregor) Richards. She graduated from Grand Haven High School in 2003 and went on to study nursing at Muskegon Community College. On August 13, 2011, she married Michael Genung, and they loved the time they spent building a family together. She worked as an R.N. on the OB floor at Trinity Hospital in Muskegon, where she made many close friends over the years.
Samantha’s family was everything to her. She was a dedicated mother, going to all of her childrens’ games and events. She loved going on adventures with her family, spending time at the beach, and going for rides in their Jeep, which they named “Memory Maker”. She loved to travel, especially going on yearly trips to Clearwater, FL, to visit Grandma Molli. She was very organized and always willing to help others how she could. She was a great mother, wife, daughter, and sister, and she will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Samantha is survived by her husband, Michael Genung; three children, Ariana, Hudson, and Beckham; parents, Steve and Jackie Richards; three siblings: Danielle (Ross) Martin, Logan (Allison) Richards, and Kendall (Dalton) Merz; five nieces and nephews: Jensen, Elise, Karson, Emmett, and Walker; mother in-law, Deanna Johnson; two siblings in-law: Kelvin (Mikalia) Johnson and Sydney Johnson; and stepfather in-law, Brett (Dana) Johnson.
A FUNERAL SERVICE will be taking place for Samantha at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI, 49444. VISITATION will be held on Wednesday, June 4, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, as well as an hour prior to the service on Thursday.
