Samuel J. "Sam" Schafer's Obituary
Samuel J. “Sam” Schafer, age 27, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 20, 2024, at home. He was born on January 23, 1997, in Laredo, TX to Joseph and Mary (Heidenga) Schafer. He graduated from Downingtown West High School in Pennsylvania class of 2015. Sam had a passion for cooking and cultivating new dishes and recipes, taking his talent to Bulloch Academy. There he worked as a chef. He enjoyed exercising and was a talented musician focusing his skills in guitar and the drums. Sam was known for his generosity and heart of gold. He could easily fill a room with laughter with his humor and knew no strangers with his gift of gab. He was a kind and tender-loving spirit who will truly be missed by so many. He is survived by his loving parents, Joseph (Mary) Schafer; sister, Megan (Rodney) Martinelli; brother, Tyler Schafer; two nephews, Grant and Asher Martinelli; grandma, Judith Caine; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. A Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8:00 PM on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 3, 2025, at St. Patrick – St. Anthony Catholic Church, 920 Fulton St., Grand Haven, MI 49417 with visitation one-hour prior.
