Sandra Kay Berg's Obituary
Sandra Kay Berg, age 72, of Spring Lake passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at a Muskegon hospital. She was born on November 19, 1941 in Cadillac, Michigan to Harold and Mildred (Nordell) Nelson.
Sandra attended college at Central Michigan University and went on to earn her Master’s Degrees in both English Literature and Biology at Western Michigan University. She was head of the English Department at Fruitport High School. Sandra married Richard “Dick” Berg on November 26, 1965 in Grand Haven. She was a member of Calvary Church in Fruitport and attended Ferrysburg Community Church. Sandra enjoyed horses, traveling, socializing with her friends, sewing, needlework and knitting. She especially loved reading the Bible and being active in the church community.
Sandra is lovingly remembered by her husband of 48 years, Dick Berg; son, Erik (Kelly) Berg of Laurel, MD; step-daughters, Cindy (David) Domanchuk and Jennifer Daane, both of Grand Haven; step-sons, Bob Berg and Steve Berg, both of Grand Haven; eight grandchildren: Jaime, Kathryn, Lindsey, Tyler, Tanner, Scotty, Angelina and Jessica; and one great-grandchild, Lauren. She is also survived by her sister, Marilyn Barnum of Kalamazoo. Sandra was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Jaclyn and Corissa.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven with Rev. Bill Rudd officiating.
