Sandra Kaye "Sandy" Majeski's Obituary
Sandra Kaye “Sandy” Majeski, age 87, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at The Hume Home after suffering a stroke in November. She was born in Onekama, MI on November 1, 1936 to Robert and Esther (Falk) Smith. Sandy moved to Muskegon at the age of 17 to attend Muskegon Business College. She married Robert J. “Bob” Majeski in Muskegon on February 24, 1962 and he preceded her in death on February 28, 2004. Her first employment was with Prudential Insurance Agency. Sandy then worked 25 years as the office manager for Dr. James Barnett and retired in 1998. She met and made many lifelong friends at both workplaces. She was a longtime and active member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church where she volunteered for over 20 years on the Money Counting Team and was a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She was an avid bowler and won numerous awards and trophies including bowling a perfect 300 game. Sandy traveled and attended many bowling tournaments over the years both with the Muskegon Elks and the Michigan Cubs. She bowled her last game at the age of 84, a pastime of more than 60 years. Sandy also was a talented seamstress making clothes for herself and her family. She was also an accomplished knitter, providing mittens of various patterns and sizes to many needy in Muskegon. To have been in her kitchen as she rolled homemade cookies and pie crust or made pierogi and golumpki was a treat that her family will cherish. Survivors include 2 children, Alan (Daughn)Majeski, and Kathryn (Paul) Kuharevicz; 6 grandchildren, Nathan and Andrea Majeski, Keith, Dean, Neil, and Glen Kuharevicz; and 1 sister-in-law, Jeanne (Mel) Peterman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Majeski; her parents; and 2 sisters, Esther (Laverne) Pierson and Susie (Steve) Murar. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (1716 Sixth Street, Muskegon, MI 49441) with Rev. Steven W. Geerling presiding. Visitation will be held 5-7 PM Monday at The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd, Muskegon, MI 49441 where the Rosary will be prayed at 5:00 PM. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
