Sandra Mae "Sandy" Semmens' Obituary
Sandra Mae “Sandy” Semmens, age 81, of Grand Haven passed away Monday, March 11, 2024, at Riverside Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born May 7, 1942, in Grand Haven to Gerhardt and Frances (Schultz) Groth. Sandy married Sidney C. Semmens on April 25, 1964, in Calumet, Michigan. He preceded her in death on October 19, 2020.
Sandy worked at Russ’ as a waitress and was also a homemaker. She loved cooking, playing cards, gardening, shopping, and fishing in her younger years. Most of all, family gatherings and family were important to her.
She is lovingly remembered by four children: Larry (Susan) Semmens, Scott (Valerie) Semmens, Lori (John) Banks and Gary (Toni Perfect) Semmens; fourteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary (Bruce) Pelton and Debra (Jon) Krohn; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Craig Semmens, and her brother, Larry Alan Groth.
A private graveside service will be held at Grand Haven Township Historic Cemetery. A public celebration of Sandra and Sidney’s lives will be held at a later date.
