Sandra Sue Steinhauer's Obituary
Sandra Sue Steinhauer, age 82, of Norton Shores, MI passed away on February 14, 2026. She recently celebrated 61 years of marriage to her loving husband, Joseph V. Steinhauer. Sandy was born on December 19, 1943 in Muskegon, MI to parents Fredrick and Catherine (Halbower) Gotts. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and three brothers.
Sandy dedicated her life to creating a beautiful home, both inside and out. Her family was her greatest pride and joy. It was rare for a day to pass without one or more of her children stopping by to visit. She found deep peace in tending her cherished gardens, where her remarkable green thumb brought beauty to all who were fortunate enough to admire them.
A gifted and versatile artist, Sandy poured her heart into painting, pottery, sewing, and quilting. Her creations, many lovingly made as gifts for family and friends, remain a lasting legacy of her talent and creativity.
Sandy and Joe treasured the simple joys of watching the bluebirds in their backyard - loving these birds while amused by the contentious banter between the sparrows, squirrels, chipmunks and woodpeckers. Those moments brought them laughter and connection.
Sandy was blessed with many special people in her life, including her loving husband, Joseph Sr; children, Rhonda (Ron) Bruch, Joseph (Shelley) Steinhauer Jr., Michelle (Bob) Hegbloom, and Cheryl (Jeff) Correll; seven grandchildren, Zachary Bruch, Zari Bruch, Brenden Steinhauer, Sam Steinhauer, Taylor Hegbloom, Garrett Hegbloom and Aiden Correll; one great-granddaughter, Paisley Steinhauer; dear friends, Kathy, Gretchen and Randy, Chuck and Denise, Marge and Don; her quilting group Blockhead Babes; and her “sisters” Bonnie (Don) and Pat.
The family would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to the staff at Trinity Health Hospital and to the Poppen House for the excellent care, compassion, and support they provided throughout her illness and transition.
SERVICES will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, February 19, 2026 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 with VISITATION one hour prior to her service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. You may sign Sandy’s online guestbook at https://www.sytsemafh.com
