Sarah M. Crawford's Obituary
Sarah Marie Crawford was called home by her Lord & Savior at 5:58 pm on Monday, October 5, 2020, at the age of 39. Sarah was the true definition of a fighter. She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the young age of 11. Her faith in God and her will to live brought her through the many ups and downs that came with battling the disease. She inspired everyone around her as she refused to let her sickness define her. She was blessed to have found the love of her life and have such an amazing daughter to stick with her every step of the way. She was given a new lease on life when her brother Matthew gave her a kidney in 2011 and she received her new pancreas in 2014. Despite the struggles that she faced, she remained faithful and determined to live her life to the fullest. Sarah was a huge family person, an amazing wife, and mother, daughter, sister, aunt & friend. To know her was to love her. She loved being spontaneous and was always down for a good time. She enjoyed adventures and spending time with loved ones. Her idea of a perfect day would be cooking out with the family, going to the beach, camping, taking a road trip, hitting up a casino, or sitting out by a bonfire. On the other hand, she was also content spending the day at home with her daughter, Morgan, painting, decorating for the different seasons, and doing homemade crafts. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed canning and making homemade pierogies with her momma. She had the biggest heart and thought about others before herself. She played such a huge role in the lives of those around her, leaving pieces of herself to live on in everyone she loved. Her life was her testimony. She was preceded in passing by her dad, Richard Siade Mellem Sr.; maternal grandparents, Jim & Ethel Kujawa; and her paternal grandparents, Ollie & Evelyn Mellem. Sarah leaves behind her loving husband and daughter, Joe and Morgan Crawford; her mom and step-dad, Anita and Bobby Gordon; her father and mother-in-law, Bradley and Constance Crawford; her siblings; Jason (Kristy) Gardner, Richard Mellem Jr, Rachel (Nick) Gronda, Matthew (Amber) Mellem, Rebecca Gordon, Jacob (Stephanie) Gordon, Jeannine (Josh) Worden and Jessica Crawford; as well as her grandmother, Arlene Stopczynski; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends. A Memorial Service will be held 12PM, Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Whitehall Evangelical Covenant Church. Visitation with family will be one hour prior, from 11AM-12PM. Her family will be live-streaming her service via Facebook for all her loved ones who aren't able to make it, so please stay home if you're not feeling well. Luncheon immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider helping the family or making a donation in her memory to her church family at Whitehall ECC.
