Mrs. Sarah M. "Sally" Ball's Obituary
Mrs. Sarah Mae “Sally” Ball, age 82, passed away Friday, January 24, 2014 at Harbor Hospice. She was born May 4, 1931 in Muskegon to David and Sarah (Smith) Cooper, and lived here all her life. Sally was a charter member of Evanston Avenue Baptist Church, and had been a sales clerk for Austin’s Office Supply for 20 years before retiring in 1993. On August 23, 1952 she married Richard “Dick” Ball, and they were married for 55 years before his death in 2008. SURVIVING are her children: R. Eli (Mary) Ball of Nashville, TN, Gary (Beth) Ball of DeWitt, MI, and David (Leslie) Ball of Kentwood, MI; seven grandchildren: Mindy (Fred) Render, Tim (Sarah) Ball, Brandon, Kane, and Nathan Ball, Kristen (Nathan) Black, and Marcia Ball; four great-grandchildren: Caleb and Cole Render, Kayden Ball, and Hailey Black; her brother, Rev. James (Anna Mae) Cooper and sister-in-law, Bonnie Cooper. She was predeceased by her parents; husband; brother, Dr. William Cooper; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Katherine (Rev. Bill) Paul, Virene Cooper and Mildred (Earl) Cooper. The FUNERAL SERVICE for Mrs. Ball will be held 12:00 Noon Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Evanston Avenue Baptist Church, 1188 Evanston Ave., with Pastor Shane Pruitt officiating, and interment in Mona View Cemetery. VISITATION will be from 10 AM to Noon Saturday at the Church. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS to Evanston Avenue Baptist Church Benevolence Fund or to Harbor Hospice would be appreciated.
