Scott M. MacDonald's Obituary
Scott M. MacDonald, age 56, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 24, 1968, in Montgomery, Alabama, to John “Mac” and Mary (Bourdo) MacDonald. In 1974, his family returned to Muskegon, Michigan, where Scott would grow up and proudly call home for the rest of his life. A graduate of Mona Shores High School, Class of 1986, Scott continued his education at Baker College, earning his bachelor’s degree in Health Service Administration. His passion for learning never faded; he went on to complete master’s degrees in both Business Management and Human Resources at Baker College, and even took time to explore his culinary interests by attending culinary school. On July 27, 2002, Scott married the love of his life, Sue Gillet, in Dutton, Michigan. Together they shared 22 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and countless nights of Godzilla movies, food & cooking shows, and anything paranormal. Scott was truly a jack-of-all-trades, an intelligent, curious man who loved learning about everything from crafts and trades to music and literature. His love for singing was legendary among his family and friends, and he never turned down a chance to belt out a song at karaoke, often challenging himself with a wide range of artists. He was a true Star Wars fanatic and avid Air Show attendee, Scott embraced life with enthusiasm and a sense of fun. He was a foodie at heart, thriving in the kitchen and delighting loved ones with hearty, delicious meals — the kind of food everyone loved to eat, nothing too fancy. Above all, Scott will be remembered for his deep love for his family and his incredible ability to light up any room with his smile and laughter. He had a rare gift for making others feel seen, cherished, and loved. Scott was a devoted husband, an amazing father, a doting grandpa, a wonderful son, and a loyal friend to so many. His spirit, humor, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Scott is survived by his loving wife, Sue MacDonald; two daughters, Miranda (Brad) Millen and Emma (Morghan) LeRoux; three grandchildren, Caleb, Theodore and Elliana; mother, Mary (Gerald) Fethke; sister, Janene (Tom) Irey; sister-in-law, Jodi MacDonald; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, John “Mac” MacDonald; and two brothers, Jeff MacDonald and John MacDonald. A Celebration of Scott’s Life will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, May 9, 2025, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444, with visitation one-hour prior.
