Scott Edward Wayman's Obituary
On Thursday, January 29, 2026, Scott Edward Wayman passed away at home peacefully, surrounded by his loving wife and sisters, after a short but courageous battle with renal cell carcinoma.
He was born on November 8, 1958, in Muskegon, MI. to Frank G and Loretta M. (Wheeler) Wayman. His life was defined by devotion to family and his deeply valued lifelong friendships, of which there were many. He was known as “Subaru” to all his close friends.
Scott was a proud graduate of Muskegon Sr. High School, Class of 1976. He also attended Muskegon Business Collete and earned an associate degree. He started his professional career in the food industry starting at Wendy’s, Arby’s, and Lee’s Famous Recipe in various management positions. He was a supervisor for Hot ‘n Now restaurants for 15 years. His last position was with Motion Dynamics.
Scott was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also enjoyed golf, softball, hockey, and was a devoted fan of the Detroit Red Wings and University of Michigan Football.
Scott is survived in death by his beloved wife: Diane with whom they shared 14 wonderful years; father: Frank Wayman; stepchildren: Kirstin (Sarah) Taylor, Kyle Taylor, Brandon Petters; sisters: Peggy (Dallas) Perdue, Wendy (Chuck) Sobish, Tammy (Tim Denny) Jordan, niece: Marissa (Brandon Harris) Jordan; nephews: Tyler Jordan, Charles (Chaundra) Sobish, Craig Sobish; aunt: Carol Workman and his two loving fur babies, Tilly and Cabela whom he loved with all of his heart.
He was preceded in death by his mother: Loretta Wayman; brother: James H. Wayman; father-in-law: Garth Beebe and nephew: Ryan H. Jordan and his best friend: Tom Cunningham.
A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held at the Lee Chapel Family Center, 6291 Harvey St. Norton Shores, MI. 49444, on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to The American Cancer Society or Harbor Hospice.
