Sharon Lee Moore's Obituary
Sharon Lee Moore (Cross) born July 27, 1962 ascended to the Kingdom of Heaven on April 11, 2025. She was surrounded by her five children and loved one’s every minute of the days and moments before her passing. She was born to Donald and Karen Cross. She was the fourth of seven children. The Cross family moved from Muskegon to the farm in Fremont in 1972 where her love of horses and life of the farm grew. She was very active in 4-H showing her horses Penny and Wildfire. She would go on to graduate from Grant High School in 1980. Shortly after, she would begin her life’s work of motherhood where her two sons and three daughters would be her greatest accomplishments – always believing that her sole purpose in life was motherhood. Sharon was a selfless and giving person. She spent countless hours as a 4-H Leader while her children were growing up and volunteered with the United Way, Kid’s Food Basket and Salvation Army. She was preceded in death by her parents Donald and Karen Cross, her siblings Michael John, Ann Marie and Julie Marie, her son-in-law, Cory Mataya, her Aunt Brenda along with many other aunts and uncles. She is survived by her siblings Lynn (Lonnie) Keech, Jim (Lisa) Cross, and Alyssa (Darrel) Bordeaux. She leaves behind her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren: Michael (Jess) Rusco with grandchildren Zia and Tomson; Daniel (Lisa) Rusco with grandchildren Elliana, Jonny and Daniel; Cynthia (Brian) Moran with grandchildren Miranda, Bryn, Scout (George), Anastasia, Brooke, Alan, Isabella and great grandchildren, Cory, Paisley, Alexandra and Noah; Pamela Rusco and grandson Daren; and her youngest daughter Juliette Van Horn. The story of Sharon’s life is service to God, service to others and motherhood. Her seven-year battle with cancer was inspiring, her faith and love of God were her guidance, her motivation to keep fighting was her children, especially her youngest Juliette. She is deeply loved and will be forever missed. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd, Muskegon, MI 49441. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
