Sharon L. VanAmburg's Obituary
Sharon Lee VanAmburg, age 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at her home. She was born on October 5, 1943 in Chicago, IL where she was adopted by her loving parents, Bernard and Nathaline “Babs” (Phillips) Hoffenberg. Sherry’s family moved to south Florida, where she graduated high school, before she eventually moved up to Michigan. Sherry worked as an RN for 20 years at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing before opening her own antique store, Cricket House Antiques. Sherry loved spending time by the water and on the beaches soaking up the sunshine. She had a fondness for anything Disney and took each of her four grandchildren on a trip to Disney World when they turned 10. Sherry’s career in antiquing lead to many lasting and meaningful friendships. Her antique group always made time for each other over the years going out for lunch, shopping together, and celebrating each other’s birthdays. Sherry loved her family deeply and made a point to attend any school or sporting events for her children and grandchildren. Sherry will be missed by her children, Karen (David) Gregoire and Peter Tompson; grandchildren, Sarah (Lee) Bedard, Daniel Gregoire, Benjamin (Michaela) Gregoire, and Tony Tompson; three great-grandchildren, Aiden , Ella, and Isaac; and one sister, Claire Kohrman. A Memorial Service and Time of Reflection will be held Saturday, October 7, at 2:00PM at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 – 2:00PM. For those who wish, the family would enjoy seeing flower arrangements at Sherry’s service in memory of her love for flowers, otherwise, memorial contributions to Make-A-Wish Foundation would be appreciated.
