Shelby J. VanBergen's Obituary
Mrs. Shelby J. VanBergen, age 70, passed away Monday, December 6, 2010 in Muskegon. She was born December 26, 1939 in Manila, AR and moved to Muskegon from Kennett, MO in August 1968. She worked for Prosperity Laundry for 28 years until her retirement in 1985. Shelby was a member of Abundant Life Tabernacle. On September 7, 1985 she married Dann VanBergen at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and he survives her along with 6 sisters, Luwanda (Junior) Doyle of Illinois, Janie Brady of Fruitport, MI, Thelma Sue (Lonny) Lee of Arkansas, Margaret (Jerry) Broad of Alabama, Barbara (Gary) Altman and Ila (Merlin) Tice both of Florida; brother, Randall Martin of Illinois and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Shelby was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Susan (Kirby) Martin, 2 sisters, Eveline Martin and Lorine Jones; and 3 brothers, Algie, Dewayne, and Quinten Martin. The FUNERAL SERVICE will be 11AM Thursday at Abundant Life Tabernacle (3445 Dangl Rd.) with Rev. Ronald A. Prather officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 5-8PM Wednesday at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210. Entombment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Abundant Life Tabernacle will be appreciated.
