Sherman J. Vriesman's Obituary
Mr. Sherman Vriesman, age 86, passed away at home on April 9, 2013. He was born on May 7, 1926 to John and Henrietta (Poel) Vriesman in Muskegon. Sherm attended Ferry Memorial Church in Montague. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II; and prior to his retirement in 1985 he worked in sales for Detroit Ball Bearing Company. Sherm was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. On September 20, 1949 he married Kathryn “Kitty” Dutmer and they spent 63 years together. She survives him along with 4 children, James (Debra) Vriesman, Marsha (Daniel, dec’d) Seaver, Marijo (Jim) Lorenz and Douglas (Sheryl) Vriesman; 16 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Wayne (Barb) Vriesman and Clayton (Joan) Vriesman. He was also preceded in death by an infant great-grandson, Gabriel. FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Ferry Memorial Church (8637 Old Channel Trail) with Pastor Dick Klaver officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Montague. MEMORIALS to Ferry Memorial Church or Harbor Hospice would be appreciated.
