Sherrie L. VanTongeren's Obituary
Sherrie Lynne VanTongeren, age 68, passed away in Deluth, GA, on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. Sherrie was born in Muskegon, MI, on January 5, 1957, Edward and Mary (Nelson) Ellis. She graduated from Mona Shores High School. She worked in various positions throughout her career, including as an MA at Hackley Workplace Health for many years, an office administrator at Affordable Roof Repair, and then as an office administrator for J&J Roofing and Home Repair Services. She married Paul VanTongeren on December 31, 2000, and the two of them greatly enjoyed their years together. Sherrie enjoyed golfing, taking trips back home to Michigan for camping and fishing, but more than anything she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a loving, caring person who was always willing to offer help to those who needed it.
Sherrie will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Paul VanTongeren; two children: Amy (Chad) Nowicki and Stephanie Lloyd; three stepchildren: Kevin VanTongeren, Stacy VanTongeren, and Scott (Sue) McAvoy; six grandchildren: Vincent (Abigail), Josalynn, Elyse, Isabella, Emma, and Rebecca (Chris); five step-grandchildren: Erica, Nathan, Trevor, Mallory, and Reid; three sisters: Kathy (Bob) Bielski, Teresa (Jim) Baker, and Cindy Baxter; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Ellis and Mary (Tom) Soderquist, and brother, Joseph Ellis.
