Sherryn "Sherry" Benkert's Obituary
Mrs. Sherryn “Sherry” Benkert, age 64, of Nunica passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2018. She was born November 11, 1953 in Grand Rapids to Phillip and Geneva (Parish) Barbrick. On December 8, 1973 she married David “Weasel” Benkert and he preceded her in death on April 9, 2017.
Sherry was a joy to be with and will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. She was on the Starlite Lanes State Championship Bowling Team this past year. She enjoyed her Thirsty Thursday Crew and was a talented artist and crafter.
Sherry is survived by her mother, Geneva Barbrick; seven siblings: Linda (Ray) Mulder, Phillip Craig (Lou) Barbrick, Ron (Gretta) Barbrick, Pamela (Jack) Dickman, David (Sharon) Barbrick, Carol Allen, and Mark Barbrick; in-laws, Terry (Marilyn) Benkert, Chuck (Karen) Benkert; numerous nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews; special friends, Serge and Carol Cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Phillip; brother, Roger Allen; in-laws, Eugene and Louise Benkert; brothers-in-law, Dan, and Ted Benkert; special cat, Lulu.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, October 6, 2018 at The VanZantwick Chapel (620 Washington Ave.) with Pastor Dave Boomgaard officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Spring Lake Township Cemetery.
