Sherwood Eugene Durgan's Obituary
Sherwood Eugene Durgan, age 96, passed away on June 6, 2025. Sherwood was born to Elmer and Florance (Swan) Durgan on January 31, 1929, in Ludington, Michigan. Sherwood made a career as a painter and welder at Steel Fabricating of Muskegon. He later started his own lawn company, Durgan’s Lawn Service, from which he retired. Sherwood enjoyed working on cars, dune scooting, snowmobiling, fishing, and deer hunting in his younger years. More recently, he enjoyed visiting with his family.
Sherwood is survived by his children, Daniel Durgan, David Durgan, and Cindy (Mitchell) Molyneux; fifteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Sherwood is preceded in death by three wives; his son, Steve (Nancy) Durgan; daughter-in-law, Marilynn Durgan; and sister, Judy (Ed) Williams.
A funeral service for Sherwood will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 13, 2025, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions in Sherwood’s honor may be made to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital.
