Sheryl L. Smith's Obituary
Mrs. Sheryl L. Smith was 75 years old at the time of her passing and was born on November 18, 1947, in Grand Haven, Michigan. Her parents were Donald and Ruth (Houghtaling) Nuvill. She went to be with her Lord Friday, February 17, 2023, at Christian Haven Home in Grand Haven. She married Daniel M. Smith on November 15, 1969, and he preceded her in death on April 29, 2020.
Sheryl had a strong connection to her community through her membership at Hope Reformed Church and involvement with Westshore DeColores. She grew up in Grand Haven with her five siblings, many cousins, aunts, and uncles. After marrying Dan, she enjoyed many years of world travel while Dan served in the U.S. Navy. They returned to Grand Haven when he retired in 1984. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Sheryl loved her three boys, grandchildren, and any other children that came her way. Dogs were always a part of the family and was one of the things she missed this past year.
Sheryl is survived by her three children: Sean (Sue) Smith of Lexington, SC, Kevin Smith of Grand Haven and Ian (Catrina) Smith of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Danielle (Tyler) Church, Tyler Smith, Connor Camp-Smith, Avery Smith-Bagley, Emery Smith-Bagley, Alex Smith, and Noah Smith; and great-grandson, Michael Asher Church. Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Barb (Mike) Lulofs, and her brother, Rick (Carla) Nuvill. Sheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Ruth Nuvill, as well as her brothers, Don, Jeff, and Ken Nuvill, and her in-laws, Frank and Marillen Smith.
