I have so many wonderful memories of Shirley - almost daily conversations with her sitting on the back steps and I standing there talking for hours about anything and everything. She was a special friend and confidant. I can only smile when I think of her. My special memory is when I was 9 months pregnant with Jonathan; Chuck and Dave were working on Debby's red VW and I was inside talking with Shirley about baby things. I remember a television episode of the "A-Team" was on. We were laughing at my story about the night before David Lee was born. Dave had been working with a friend on a red VW the night David Lee decided it was time to make his appearance. I said how ironic would it be if Jonathan chose the same entrance timing. Sitting with her at the kitchen table, within 15 minutes of that statement, contractions started and Jonathan was born that next early morning. What a wonderful memory for me. She was there for me and helped me through those first days of bringing this new precious little boy into our lives. I miss her already, especially knowing that I just can't pop in to see her the next time I'm in Ferrysburg. I'll always love Shirley and treasure our special time together. My prayer - may you rest in peace my friend and may your family find the peace that surpasses all understanding.
