Shirley A. Davis' Obituary
Shirley Anne (Burmeister) Davis, age 87, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 4th surrounded by her family at her home. Shirley Anne was a life-long resident of Muskegon born on May 12, 1935 to Ernest and Clarissa (Feltner) Burmeister; she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Harold Davis Jr.; her parents and two brothers, Lyle (Bud) Burmeister and infant David Lee Burmeister. Shirley Anne is survived by 3 children: Chuck (Mary) Davis; Peggi (Perry) Ranes of Redmond, WA, and Barb Nyblade, Russ Nyblade; 8 grandchildren: Janet Robbe, Brent Davis, Megan (Jake) Boose, Eric Ranes, Jordan (Justin) Birr, Zach, Maddi and Kenzie Nyblade along with 6 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother Jim (Jeff VanderHeide) Burmeister of Treasure Island, FL and sister-in-law Peggy Burmeister of Fremont along with many nieces and nephews.
Shirley Anne was always known to be “put together” with her hair and clothing always perfect. For over 65 years she went to the same hairdresser on Thursday morning where she would meet up with her friends for the local gossip and follow up their “day of beauty” with waffles or pancakes. Shirley Anne loved her family and would be the first to volunteer to help out. Her happiest days were spent at her home on Mona Lake with family; who would have thought that the woman who always looked fabulous would be the one to put worms on fish hooks and take the fish off for her grandkids – all without rubber gloves, no less!
Shirley Anne loved to play cards, watch her Detroit Lions and could talk about the current standings of NASCAR drivers. She was an avid reader and often had multiple books going at the same time; in her later years, she loved watching old western movies and like Harold, she enjoyed watching Lawrence Welk on Saturday evenings before they went out for dinner.
