Shirley Elaine Gillings' Obituary
Mrs. Shirley Elaine Gillings, age 94, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 25, 2022. She was born in Flint, Michigan on March 21, 1928 to Russell and Margaret (Solomon) Colon. On August 29, 1952, Shirley married Daniel J. Gillings, and he preceded her in death in 1995. Shirley and Daniel started their family in Des Plaines, Illinois before moving to Muskegon in 1970. They owned and operated the Dunkin Donuts franchise on Sherman Blvd. She was a member of the Muskegon Exchange Club and enjoyed playing the piano, swimming, and crossword puzzles. Shirley is survived by six children, Daniel Gillings, Mark (Jackie) Gillings, Laurel (Wayne) Greene, Kathleen (James) Pancy, Michael (Ginger) Gillings, and James (Mary) Gillings; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister, Phyllis Buechner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Gillings; son, Timothy Gillings; grandson, Justin Greene; and brother, Russell Colon. SERVICES for Shirley will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444.
