Shirley Eileen McGonigle's Obituary
Ms. Shirley Eileen McGonigle, age 55, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014. She was born October 1, 1958 in Muskegon to Richard and Eileen (Maki) McGonigle and lived her entire life in the area. Shirley served 4 years in the U.S. Army during the Persian Gulf War and continued her service with the U.S. Army Reserves for 8 years. Following her time in the service, she worked 15 years as a postal worker for the U.S. Post Office and retired in 2013. SURVIVORS include her son, Christopher Thompson of Muskegon; 1 brother, Bill McGonigle of Muskegon; 1 sister, Jane (Terry) Posthumus of Spring Lake; 2 nephews, 1 niece, 3 great-nephews and 2 great-nieces. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother, Ralph McGonigle. A GRAVESIDE SERVICE will be held 1:00 PM Friday, February 28, 2014 at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in August, MI. VISITATION will be 5-8 PM Thursday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey Street, (231) 798-1100. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
