Shirley Meints' Obituary
Shirley Meints, age 87, of Grand Haven passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at her home. She was born May 18, 1921, in Kalamazoo, MI, to Lewis and Ann (Roether) Eager, and she married Robert J. Meints on May 1, 1946, in Comstock, MI. He preceded her in death on March 19, 2008.
Mrs. Meints had been employed as an executive secretary for four superintendents in Comstock Public Schools before moving to Grand Haven in 1962. She served as an executive secretary for three superintendents in Grand Haven Area Public Schools prior to her retirement in 1986. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, and traveling with her husband, Robert.
Shirley is survived by three children: Luanne (Charles) Cooper of Kalamazoo, Dave (Colleen Yahn) Meints and Robb (Joyce Russell) Meints, both of Grand Haven; six grandchildren: Jeff (Mary) Cooper, Josh (Jen) Cooper, Meredith (Kevin) Montgomery, Sam Meints, Nick Meints, and Courtney (Aaron) Sherwood; and two great-grandchildren, Charlie Cooper and Halen Sherwood.
In honor of Shirley’s wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Comstock Cemetery in Comstock, MI.
