Shirley Marie Mertz's Obituary
Mrs. Shirley Marie Mertz, age 83, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2015 in Muskegon. She was born in Muskegon on February 21, 1932 and was a life resident of the area. Shirley was a member of McGraft Memorial Congregational Church where she was active with the food ministry. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi social sorority for over 50 years and cherished the many friendships she made with her ‘sisters’. On May 21, 1960, Shirley married Norman Mertz in Muskegon and he survives her along with their four children, Beth Mertz, Michele (David) Veyera, Todd (Sara) Mertz, Scott Mertz and three grandchildren, Nickolas, Cameron and Regan. She was preceded in death by her mother, Hazel Violet Christian. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, August 17, 2015 at McGraft Memorial Congregational Church with Pastor Mark Nieuwsma officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to her service.
