Shirley May Milder's Obituary
Mrs. Shirley May Milder, age 91, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2021 in Muskegon. She was born in Muskegon Heights, Michigan on December 8, 1929 to Martin and Mary (Keglovitz) Sekeres. Shirley was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed hosting parties for friends and family at her home, playing bridge, dominoes, cooking, baking and crocheting. On October 15, 1949, Shirley married Joseph A. Milder and he preceded her in death on April 6, 1993. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She achieved her wish of crocheting scarves and afghans for each of her loved ones. Shirley is survived by her children, Joseph (Julie) Milder, Jill (Wally) Traskos, Jan (Gordon) Colvin, and Joan (Tony) Janowski; grandchildren, Adam Hastings, Brad Hastings, Matt (Aarti) Eckfeld, Tara Colvin, David (Lynn) Colvin, Mary Janowski, and AJ Janowski; great-grandson, Archer Colvin; sister, Sally (Norm) Crouch; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. In addition to her husband Joseph, Shirley was preceded in death by her siblings, Martin “Sonny” Sekeres, Marie “Dodo” Papanek, and Carol Winicki; and her dear friend, June “Windy” Backer. A MEMORIAL SERVICE in celebration of Shirley’s life will be held 2:00PM Saturday, August 28, 2021 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. A private entombment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery on an earlier date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
