Mrs. Shirley R. Mundinger's Obituary
Mrs. Shirley R. Mundinger, age 91, passed away at her home on December 25, 2013. She was born in DeWitt, MI on December 29, 1921 to Harrison and Bessie (Taylor) Schavey. Shirley graduated from Swedish Covenant Hospital School of Nursing in 1943 and then attended and graduated from Moody Bible Institute. While at Moody, Shirley met Carl W. Mundinger and they married in Traverse City on June 30, 1946. They moved to West Virginia where they served as missionaries before settling down in Muskegon to start Wolf Lake Baptist Church. Shirley had worked as a Registered Nurse at Hackley Hospital before retiring in 1987. She was an active member of Evanston Avenue Baptist Church where she served on the Missions Board. Shirley is survived by four sons, David (Donna) Mundinger of Livermore, CA, Daniel Mundinger of Grand Rapids, Mark (Diane) Mundinger of Clearwater, FL and Jonathan (Sherry) Mundinger of Muskegon; two daughters, Diane (James) Dixon of Grove City, PA and Rachel (Robert) Schmitz of Mt. Dora, FL; 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Carl W. Mundinger; her parents; 5 brothers and 2 sisters. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Monday, December 30, 2013 at Evanston Avenue Baptist Church. VISITATION will be from 5-7 PM Sunday, December 29, 2013 at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210 and from 10-11AM Monday at church. MEMORIALS in Shirley’s name may be made to Evanston Avenue Baptist Church.
