Shirley J. Widing's Obituary
Mrs. Shirley June Widing, age 87, passed away Friday, June 19, 2020 in Whitehall, Michigan. She was born in Muskegon on October 25, 1932 to Melvin and Ora (Cromer) Rudd. Shirley graduated from Muskegon Heights High School, class of 1950. She married Jerrold D. Widing on August 16, 1952, and shortly thereafter moved their growing family to California. Shirley and Jerry lived in Northridge for 45 years before moving back to Montague in 2000. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, loved shopping, scrapbooking, and collecting Hummel figurines. Most importantly, Shirley was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her sons, David Widing and Douglas (MaryJo) Widing; four grandchildren, Dawn Alexander, Chris Widing, Stephen Widing, Tim Widing; and three great-grandsons, Dylan Alexander, John McKinny and Jason McKinny. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Jerrold; one grandson, Jason McKinny; one sister, Carol Kimble; and one brother, George Rudd. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, June 25, 2020 outside at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. MEMORIALS in memory of Shirley may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
