Shirley A. Cleveland's Obituary
Mrs. Shirley A. Cleveland, age 75, passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 23, 2011. She was born November 19, 1935 in Chicago, IL to Leon and Pauline (Johnson) Corning. Mrs. Cleveland worked for Muskegon General Hospital for 6 years prior to her 11 year employment at the Muskegon Regional Center. She retired in 1984. Mrs. Cleveland was a member of Evanston Ave. Baptist Church for over 50 years, where she had belonged to the Women’s Fellowship, the Prayer Group, and had also been a Sunday school teacher. On March 7, 1952 she married Harry R. Cleveland in Muskegon and he survives her along with 5 children, Deborah “Deb” (Dennis) Cook of Monroe, OH, Richard Cleveland, Ardis Johnson both of Muskegon, Brian (Amy) Cleveland of Sapulpa, OK, Rhonda Cleveland of Muskegon; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly Johnson of Muskegon; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Evanston Ave. Baptist Church with Pastor Shane Prewitt and Rev. Allan Engstrom officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION with the family will be from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Friday at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210.
