Shirley M. Alvord's Obituary
Shirley Maxine Alvord, age 77, passed away Sunday morning in Grand Haven following a long illness. She was born in Muskegon on October 20, 1933 to George and Irene (Kelling) Pearo and was a 1951 graduate of Muskegon High School. She married Mr. Gerald D. Alvord in Muskegon on June 27, 1953 and he preceded her in death on August 3, 2009. Mrs. Alvord was employed as a bookkeeper at Muskegon Bank and Trust and was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Grand Haven. Shirley enjoyed knitting and needlepoint, but it was with her, children, grandchildren and family that captured her heart. She is survived by her: four children, Jerry Alvord, Jr. of Blanchard, OK, Brian Alvord of N. Muskegon, Linda (Marty) Winicki of N. Muskegon and Lori (Brian) Rosema of Grand Haven; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, David Pearo; and three sisters, Donna (Joe) Yager, Sharon (Ron) Spencer and Beverly (Charles) Howard.
