Shirley M. Averill's Obituary
Mrs. Shirley M. Averill, age 84, passed away Friday, November 25, 2011. She was born March 20, 1927 to George and Amelia (Skow) Rice in Muskegon, MI. In 1947 she married Eldred Averill and they enjoyed 64 years of marriage. She was a homemaker and voracious reader. Shirley and Bud were long-time members of Sheridan Drive Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, a custodian, and treasurer. Later, they became members of Olivet Evangelical Free Church. Shirley loved her family and looked forward to family get-togethers. She is SURVIVED by her husband, Eldred; children, Suzanne (Dan) Bell, Kevin (Pam) Averill, Katheryn (Robert) Nieboer, Nancy (Nathan Scott) Ware, David (Ursula) Averill; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren. Shirley was PRECEDED in death by her parents and sister, Beverly Swain. The FUNERAL service for Shirley will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210 with Rev. Craig Cramblet officiating, with VISITATION 6-8 P.M. Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at the Sytsema Chapel and one hour prior to the Funeral service. In lieu of flowers MEMORIAL contributions can be made to the University of Michigan C.S.
