Shirley Mae Hovey's Obituary
Mrs. Shirley Hovey, age 68, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2007 in Muskegon. She was born December 21, 1938 in Muskegon to Clarence and June (Alexander) Jewett, and had resided in the area for most of her life. Shirley had owned Hovey’s Flowers for 28 years, where she often dressed up as “Mama Bear”, and recently owned Jumbo’s Restaurant. On March 11, 1967 she married Gerald Hovey, and he survives her along with 3 children, Dawn (Glen) Masterson of Whitehall, Russell (Sharon) Hovey of Kingsley, MI, and Brenda Devlin also of Muskegon; 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 4 brothers, Clarence (Carol) Jewett, Rick Miller, Ronnie Miller, and John (Dorothy) Jewett; and best friend, Jennie (Glen) Weed. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Russanne Greinke. SERVICES will be 3 PM Tuesday at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210. VISITATION with the family will be 6-8 PM Monday. Burial will take place in Egelston Twp. Cemetery.
