Stanley G. "Stan" Carlson's Obituary
Mr. Stanley G. “Stan” Carlson, age 100, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at home. He was born on March 15, 1922 to Gunnar and Anna (Johnson) Carlson in Muskegon (Pinchtown) and lived here most of his life. He graduated from Muskegon high school class of 1941, go Big Reds! He married Betty May Stayman in 1942, together cherishing 71 years full of love for each other and the Lord. He was a proud veteran, serving his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in England and France. Stan was a faithful servant of his Lord attending both Shores Community Church and Sheridan Drive Baptist Church in his later years. While attending Shores Community (Mona Shores Baptist Church), Stan was a charter member and played a pivotal role as a choir director and song leader. He had a passion for music and singing all his life. Starting in a gospel quartet during his time in the service and continuing as the choir director who added a little of his own flare. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and woodworking. His faithful and vivacious spirit will truly be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his 4 children, David (Norma Jean) Carlson, Linda (Kenneth) Doctor, Richard (Carla) Carlson and Roger (Sue) Carlson; 12 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty May Carlson; parents, Gunnar and Anna Carlson; 3 sisters; and 4 brothers. All are welcomed to join the family for a Graveside service with military honors at 11:00 AM on July 23, 2022 at Lakeside Cemetery, 2201 Crozier Ave., Muskegon, MI 49441.
