Stanley George "Stan" Stephens' Obituary
. Mr. Stanley George Stephens, age 87, passed away at the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence on March 26, 2012. He was born on February 8, 1925 to Stanley G. and Bessie (Coad) Stephens in Muskegon. Stan served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of First Christian Reformed Church and the DAV Wood-Tazelaar Post #11. Stan was a letter carrier for the US Post Office until his retirement in 1983. On December 3, 1948 he married the former Ann Doornbos and she survives him along with his sons, Terrance and Edward Stephens, both of Muskegon and his daughters, Sandra (Larry) Fairbanks of Grand Haven and Yvonne “Vonnie” (Doug) Wilson of Muskegon; grandchildren, Melissa (George Hoodhood) Havey, Joel (Renee) Wiard, Kristina (Brian) Trasky and Stephanie (James) Burns; 5 great-granddaughters, Lexxis, Keyara, Sophia, Joelie and Anna Marie. Stan was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Irene Morehouse and brother, Gerald Stephens. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be at 11:00 AM Friday, March 30 at First Christian Reformed Church (1450 Catherine Ave.) with Seminarian Michael Boerkoel officiating. VISITATION will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Thursday at The Sytsema Chapel 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210 Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Muskegon Rescue Mission Ladies Auxiliary.
