Stanley James Johnson's Obituary
Mr. Stanley (Stan) James Johnson, age 63 , went to be with his Lord on October 1, 2009. He was born July 30, 1946 to James and Eleonora (Tibbits) Johnson in Muskegon. On July 19, 1986 Stan married his best friend Lori. They enjoyed 23 wonderful years together. Stan was also the proud father of one son, Eric. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, the Detroit Tigers, and landscaping his yard. Stan graduated from Muskegon High School in 1964 and later went on to earn an Associates Degree from Baker College. In 1967 Stan enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country in the Vietnam War. Stan was a member of Covenant Community Church where he had served as a deacon. He worked several DeColores weekends and was Rector of DeColores #170. After 43 years of working at Knoll Group, he retired in January of 2007. Stan is survived by his loving wife Lori; his son, Eric (Lisa) Johnson; 4 grandchildren; and a special pet, Colby. He was very close to his father and mother-in-law, Lee and Delores Branch, along with his friend and brother-in-law, Scott Branch. He was preceded in death by his parents. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 2 PM Monday, October 5, 2009, at Covenant Community Church, 134 E. Barney, with his Pastor, Rev. Mark Bush officiating. Full Military Rites will be afforded under the auspices of VFW Muskegon County Council and the Michigan National Guard Honor Guard. VISITATION will be Sunday afternoon from 4-6 PM at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St 1-231-798-1100. Memorial Contributions may be made to Covenant Community Church.
