Stanley "Kut" C. Zysk's Obituary
Stanley “Kut” C. Zysk, age 89, of Spring Lake passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Heartwood Lodge. He was born July 7, 1919, in Grand Haven to George and Sophie (Gorecki) Zysk.
He married the former Cecelia Lempecki on December 2, 1950, in Grand Haven and she survives him along with seven daughters: Janice (Jim) Stille of Grand Haven, Helen (William) Paul of Spring Lake, Barbara Zysk of Irons, MI, Cheryl (Paul) Steinmetz of New Baltimore, MI, Rosemarie (Richard) Benkert of Grand Ledge, MI, Theresa (Roger) Marshall of Queen Creek, AZ, and Beverly (Jon) Wehrenberg of Joliet, IL; two sons: Chester Maka of Delton, MI, and John (Kari) Zysk of Allendale; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews; and a sister, Patricia (Raymond) Masko of Grand Haven.
He was preceded in death by a son, Stanley Maka; a sister, Helen Duga; and five brothers: John, Henry, Stuart, Edward, and George.
Mr. Zysk served his country in the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers during World War II and retired from Olberg Manufacturing in 1977 after 45 years of service. He also worked with his family on their vegetable farm in Allendale. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the VFW Sgt. Alvin Jonker Post 2326 Honor Guard, a former member of the American Legion, and the Spoonville Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, farming, swimming, dancing, reading, playing football and baseball, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
The Funeral Mass for Stanley will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2009, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Leonard Sudlik as celebrant. Military rites will be provided by the VFW Sgt. Alvin Jonker Post 2326 Honor Guard. Friends may meet the family 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven with a Rosary service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be in Lakeshore Cemetery.
