Stephan M. "Steve" Sugin's Obituary
Stephan M. “Steve” Sugin, age 66, passed away very unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 30, 2021. He was born November 30, 1954 in Muskegon to Milivoy and Karoline (Koster) Sugin and was a lifelong resident. Steve earned his associates degree at Muskegon Community College. Steve worked as an auto mechanic at Dan Cooper Auto Sales, Gage Motor Mall, Sear’s Auto, and retired from Van’s Auto Repair in 2020 after 10 years. On June 28, 1975, he married Theresa M. Perri at Our Lady of Grace Parish in Muskegon. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Steve was an all-around “Family Man” and his children and grandchildren were the focus of his life. He especially enjoyed attending his grandkids sporting events. He loved his Detroit Lions Football Team. Steve was proud of his German heritage – even speaking fluent German, but he was a true Patriot who loved the USA and adamantly support President Donald J. Trump. He was the voice of calm and reason in his family. Steve enjoyed trips to the casino, gardening, fireworks and tinkering with and fixing cars. His passing will leave a tremendous void for his family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Theresa M. Sugin; 3 children, twins Elizabeth and Christopher (fiancée, Misty Griswold) Sugin and Stephannie Sugin; 2 grandchildren, Mackennzie and Dominic Sugin; 1 sister, Vivian (Rodney) Baird; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Ernst Cassau, and 1 sister, Gertrude Werner. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:00 PM Monday, July 12, 2021 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church (495 S. Getty St.). Visitation will be held 4-7 PM Sunday, July 11, 2021 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 Apple Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442 where the Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM Sunday evening. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to Mass, 12-1PM Monday at the church. Memorial Contributions may be directed to a Trust for his grandchildren, Mackennzie and Dominic.
